Who it’s for

Is this your kind of site?

If your business relies on more than a few fridges, and losing refrigeration would stop work or put a whole room of stock at risk, this page is for you.

  • Food producers and manufacturers: bakeries, ready meals, meat, dairy and catering production.
  • Distribution and wholesale: large chilled and frozen stores.
  • Central and production kitchens: contract caterers and kitchens that cook for several sites.
  • Large cold stores and chilled production rooms.
  • Supermarkets: see our supermarket and retail refrigeration page.

Why it matters

What a breakdown really costs you.

On a bigger site, a refrigeration fault affects the whole operation, not just one unit.

What to do about it: know who you’d call before something goes wrong, have the system serviced on a schedule, keep your temperature logs up to date, and act early on the warning signs below.

Stock at risk

When a large room or production area warms up, it isn’t one shelf of stock in danger. It can be everything in the room.

Production stops

If a chilled room can’t hold temperature, work stops and staff stand idle until it’s fixed.

Orders and deliveries

A breakdown at the wrong moment can mean missed deliveries and difficult calls to your customers.

Food safety records

Temperature problems need recording and explaining. Clear records and a written repair report make that easier.

What we look after

The refrigeration your site depends on.

Tell us about your system and we’ll talk it through with you in plain English.

Planned maintenance

Servicing that fits around a production site.

  • Evaporators and condensers cleaned so the system doesn’t have to work as hard.
  • Leak checks, recorded for systems that need them under F-Gas rules.
  • Defrosts and drains checked so ice and water don’t build up.
  • Controls and alarms tested so you hear about problems early.
  • Written report after every visit.

Tell us your production hours and cleaning schedule, and we’ll plan visits to keep disruption low, including safe access to evaporators mounted high up.

Warning signs

Signs to act on now.

Spot one of these? Call before it turns into a breakdown.

Slow to cool down

Rooms take longer to get back to temperature after a delivery or after loading.

Ice on the evaporators

Ice building up on the units on the ceiling or walls, or defrosts not clearing it.

Water dripping

Water dripping from evaporators or puddles forming under them.

Outdoor units never stop

Condensing units running all the time, tripping, or sounding different.

Longer chilling times

Blast chilling or freezing cycles taking longer than they used to.

More alarms

Temperature alarms going off more often, or being silenced and ignored.

FAQ

Semi-industrial refrigeration questions.

Straight answers for food producers, distribution sites, production kitchens and cold stores.

What is semi-industrial refrigeration?

It’s refrigeration that is bigger than a single fridge or a small walk-in cold room, but smaller than a large industrial plant. Typically it’s a production room or a large store cooled by several evaporators, with larger condensing units and often blast chillers or freezers.

Do you offer 24/7 breakdown cover for food production sites?

Yes. We’re available 24/7 with same-day call-outs across London. Call 020 8050 4009, or WhatsApp photos and any fault code so the engineer knows what to bring.

Can you work around our production and hygiene rules?

Yes. Tell us your production hours, cleaning schedule and site rules when you book, and we’ll plan the visit to keep disruption low. Our engineers follow your hygiene and clothing requirements, and we plan safe access to evaporators mounted high up.

How often should a larger refrigeration system be serviced?

It depends on how hard the system works and how clean the environment is. Many sites have a visit every three or six months. Some systems also need regular leak checks under F-Gas rules. We’ll recommend a schedule once we’ve seen your site.

Do you repair and service blast chillers and blast freezers?

Yes. Blast chillers and blast freezers are part of many production sites, and we look after them alongside the rest of your refrigeration. Tell us the make and model when you get in touch. See also our blast chiller servicing page.

Can you work on our system?

Every site is different, so tell us about your system: what it cools, roughly how many rooms, evaporators and outdoor units there are, and the make and model if you have it. Photos of the rating plates help. We’ll tell you straight away whether it’s something we can look after.
